How to grind alloy saw blades for sharpness and durability?

Grinding alloy saw blades is a task that requires precise operation and professional skills. The correct grinding method can not only restore the sharpness of the saw blade, but also extend its service life. The following are detailed steps and precautions:

1. Preparation before Grinding

Choose appropriate grinding equipment: Ensure the use of professional grinding wheels and machines, and adjust equipment parameters according to the tooth profile angle of the saw blade.

Check the condition of the saw blade: Observe whether the saw teeth have broken teeth or severe wear, and replace the teeth and weld if necessary.

2. Grinding steps

Grinding the front angle of the sawtooth: The front angle of the sawtooth is the main force bearing part of the cutting. When grinding, it is important to repair the front angle to ensure its sharpness. If the front corner is severely worn, burrs or saw marks may appear on the cutting surface.

Grinding the back and front of the teeth: mainly grinding the back of the teeth, while appropriately grinding the front of the teeth to ensure consistent front to back angles. Adjust the angle between the working surface of the grinding wheel and the tooth surface to be equal to the grinding angle, and control the grinding amount.

Keep the chip groove unobstructed: avoid simultaneously grinding the sawtooth and chip groove to prevent excessive wear of the grinding wheel.

3. Processing after Grinding

Stress correction: The stress of the saw blade may change during high-speed operation, resulting in lateral accuracy deviation. After grinding, stress correction is required to reduce the tolerance of saw blade jumping and restore the strength and elasticity of the saw body.

Leveling and stressing: Especially for thin saw blades, leveling and stressing processes can significantly improve cutting stability.

4. Grinding frequency and effect

Grinding frequency: Hard alloy saw blades can generally be ground one to three times, depending on actual usage.

Service life: If the grinding process is exquisite, the service life of the saw blade can be maintained at 70% or even higher of the original.

Cutting quality: After grinding, the cutting quality usually does not decrease, but can maintain the sharpness of the serrations and high-quality cutting effect.

5. Choose professional grinding services

Legitimate enterprises: It is recommended to choose legitimate grinding service enterprises and avoid small processing workshops to ensure the quality of grinding.

Original factory grinding: If possible, return the saw blade to the original manufacturer for grinding, as they are more familiar with the product's design parameters and can avoid angle errors.
